Hi all,

Do anyone have experience with custom xenon kit to a Verso 2008? My experience are that the original lamps are pretty bad.

Greetings,

Kurt

I bought some bulbs off eBay that are supposed to be brighter with a whiter light, and while the light output is a nicer white colour, they dont provide any more light than the standard bulbs, I'd say they are harder to see by in fact!

The Ring xenon Max bulbs sound like they should be good with "up to 100% more light", but I havent tried them yet, and they are around £20 a pair.

I agree, as far as I can see the light seems to roll over the bumper and fall on the ground just in front of the car ;).

I thought about xenon conversions but here in Holland for cars registered after January 2007 you need automatic levelling as well, and my Verso is from March 2007. I could risk it but don’t want the hassle.

Unfortunately the HB3/HB4 bulbs are difficult to get in Europe, but not so in the USA. I eventually bought the Philips VisionPlus +50% from www.SUVlights.com for $25 a pair. (I thought about the Philips Xtreme Power +80% at $39 but with the higher price and shorter life, decided not to).

The bulbs have both the USA DOT and the European E approval. Stamped on the base, so they are street legal here.

The results are impressive, instead of a vague yellowish blob in front of the car there is now a white clearly defined area, you can now see the straight line where the beam is cut off by the reflector and the extended area along the curb side is clearly visible.

So this along with the fact that the bulbs actually cost less than the standard replacements here, I can recommend them.

Hope this helps,

Regards Andy.

I have a 2006 T180 and fitted a Bosch HID upgrade kit which you replace your original bulbs for HID bulbs and a Ballast/Control unit for each bulb (it took about 20mins to fit). the consumption is reduced to 35w but the light output is 300% greater. they were bought of eBay from a U.K. supplier, but were shipped from China and was hit with import duties, but the supplier refunded the cost. they were about £69.00 and I have had them fitted for 3 years with no problem and now have the ability to see at night, these lights now match the cars performance.

Its interesting reading this, i find the standard Verso's dipped lights are excellent, my Passats are dreadful! They are like candles on dark wet unlit roads, main beam is good though.
