Auris Wipers

Well like many others I find my drivers wiper useless and back in June I had 2 x front wipers and arms fitted by Toyota under warranty. Long story short the drivers one is shot again and before someone says anything no chemicals other than screen wash have been applied to the window screen, I have noticed all the problems arise around the fixing pressure points on the wiper so after much searching I found I could not get any decent make retro fit flat blades for the Auris :o . So I bought these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT yes cheap and nasty but worth a try, to my shock they seem very good quality (as good as the Bosch I had on the CTR) and are 100% perfect wipe and not even the brand new Toyota ones was that good.

They're all good at first, but after some days... You can really see the situation becoming as bad as it was with the old ones.

The problem appears only when the wiper goes down, which is even worse than if it'd do that when going up.

I tried new Toyota wipers and Bosch wipers aswell, nothing seems to help. The problem is somewhere else than in Wiper Blades. And I do have that mysterious problem too :(

Best regards, Alex

Yes I do know this and 1st impressions are great, like I said when Toyota fitted 2 x new arms and wipers they was very good but not 100%. I will also point out that mine seems to have dragging problems around the pressure points and flat blade wipers do not have these pressure points so if the wipers last then the signs are very good. I have read the sellers feedback and a lot of buyers seem to be return customers so that is a very good sign as well, I will point out that at £7.90 I dont have much to loose so it is worth the try and now I know a flat blade wiper cures this 100% (like I said the new oem Toyota ones where not 100% mint) if the wipers dont last I will just have to search harder to find them in a better make. ;)

I tried Bosch replacement blades, not very good results with severe juddering.

I then bought some genuine Toyota blade refills for the original wipers and they are now working fine - it will be interesting to see how long for though.

I am interested in finding good wipers too. I have tried both listed models from wiperblades website and both were complete rubbish. They lasted 2 months before the rubber got shapeless and they started juddering. The flat wipers from Bosh or Valeo are almost unavailable for Auris. I am thinking about getting next set from Toyotam again as they were least evil :)

The auris is a 26" and a 16" same as a 04 celica if this helps, The flat blades are the best but like you I would prefer Bosch or Valeo, maybe it might be better to buy a 25" and 15" set if this can be found ;)

i have bought these eBay flat blade specials ( Liang Xiang, or whatever...) ... not impressed:

I have had them for a week and i use Rain-x hence reducing the need for wiping and usage and also helps keep the screen clean...but even so, the wiping action is good, as you would expect from new rubber... however the 26" blade does not curve the the shape of the glass, leaving 2 inches at the top of the screen unwiped and around 1 inch at the bottom unwiped... the load distribution does not transfer to the edges of the wiper arm.

as I say the wipe is ok in the centre but don't curve to the glass contour properly...

I'll run them for a while but i thik i will revert to new toyota blades and replace the rubber more regularly...

  • 2 weeks later...

3 weeks of usage ( including snow and frost) and the blades are now wiping even less screen surface!. The edge of the long blade is lifting at motorway speeds and with the salty grit, and white residue on the screen it is not a great siatuation...

going to go an replace with the old wiper arms ... and new rubber blade.

It was worth a try, but I personally don't rate them.

If anyone is interested on a nearly new set of Wiper Blades, let me know, ;)

Well its been 4 weeks now and my wipers are still ok, I will state not 100% perfect every wipe but at least 50% better than the Toyota blades. I think these are the way forward but maybe a branded (better made more expensive) set will be better, the problem is the brand names dont make a 26" and 16" set in the same box :o

Received my Auris yeasterday after some warranty repairs, and as I drove home I did not experience any wiping problems. I am not sure what they did to the car but the driver's wiper worked just great and did not leave any stripe/unwiped area like before. But that was just first day, let's see how will it be after two weeks...

well with 3 sets of complete genuine Toyota Blades and carriers and 1 set of wiper arms this is very normal but I am very sure within 3 weeks you will be going back to normal ;) Like I said the flat blades are not 100% but are lasting a lot better from my previous experience of genuine Toyota blades
