2006 Nudge Bar

Can someone confirm that a genuine Toyota nudge bar from another 2006 model will bolt straight on to my 2006 XT4?

Are they easy to fit? I'm presuming (hoping!) there's no drilling of the bumper involved.

Thanks.

I can confirm that all 2006 nudgebars will fit, however the car it was taken off will be left with a few holes, and you will not only have to drill new holes in your bumper but will also need to remove your front bumper, Anchs has the instructions i think, I don't know how difficult it is but my local Mr T have had 3 attempts at getting mine right + although it is now acceptable, it is still not perfect, I don't mean to discourage you I'm sure if you take your time + do it methodicly I am sure it is Do-able..Good Luck.....Stew..............This is how mine looked from new fitted by dealer..

If you take your time and follow the instructions to the letter, especially the bit about applying protective tape, you should have no problems. Lay a large blanket under front of RAV to rest bumper moulding on so it doesn't get scratched. I did mine on the driveway on my own but you will find it easier if you have someone to help as you will need to get the bumper off and support it until the fog lamp wiring is unplugged. Allow two hours so you are not rushed.

You will need to renew the adhesive tape for the underrun plate.

As Stew says, the donor car will have holes left in the bumper.

If you want a brand new, never fitted, still packaged original one half price, see my listing in for sale section:

Thanks a lot guys, just what I was after.

Reckon I'll fit it myself, that way I only have myself to blame if it goes !Removed! up.

The instruction booklet seems quite good.

There are plastic bosses on the back that will hold it off the bumper but if you can carefully hold it up to the bumper (with help) while it is still on the car and determin the best fit. There are 2 rows of fixings and I'm convinced with Local Hero's they had positioned them slightly too close together which had the effect of causing it to "bridge up" in the middle. You need to find the best fit position and then attempt to stretch it flat for the best fit. You can put masking tape on the bumper and mark the best position with a pencil.

Remember to take every precaution to protect the paint (tape kitchen roll or soft cloth over the contact points) as the paint will scratch very easily. Spending even an hour playing with getting the best fit will pay dividends.

I wonder if they used the supplied spacer bushes along the bottom fixings of LH's? From memory they are about 16mm. and effectively lower the bottom front edge of the A bar, thereby reducing the 'bridging' effect.

The drilling positions are marked on the back of the bumper moulding so everything else should line up. Look carefully at instruction 4 - the top five holes are drilled on centre of the marked positions, the bottom two are 4mm off centre, inboard.

Hole size is indicated dia 2 to 10mm. Again, from memory, I drilled mine at 8mm to allow a bit of leeway for slight adjustment. The washers cover the hole at back and the bosses from the front.
