Changing A Bulb In A Rear Cluster

Why in this day and age should it be so much of a hassle to change a bulb in a car.

I find I always have to climb into the boot with a maglight in my gob to do this job and I'm an engineer!

What chance does my poor old Mum have if she had a bulb fail on one of these.

Rant over.

Not a chance!

I had my rear passenger break bulb gone a couple of weeks ago, and it took me about 1/2Hr to replace it, most of it to take the b%$&£ module out. I think you need four hands to hold all the plastic clips to !Removed! it out! I was on the verge of extending the access hole...(mine is an estate, access should be easy!)

But then I read what problems people had changing the front bulb, so I kept quite...

Why on earth did they not just put an access panel where the cluster is as opposed to a 90 degree angle to it?

It's either climb in the boot or dislocate your hip and your wrist in three places in order to change a rear side light.

I'm sure the designers are having a laugh when they do this stuff.

Yes bad layout  , have it down to a fine art now.....

disconnect wiring loom

hand in - locate bottom 2 retainers and with finger on same hand tease slightly from clip.

locate top to retainers and with finger tease and unit falls away

ops, forgot, the lads ask me as i have small hands

I have tried to disconnect the wiring loom first, but felt as if I am going to break the clips... also, you need to know where to press to release it, which I could not find... consider it was dark and cold, and my hands were freezing.

BAD design! expected something better from MrT.

Thanks for the tip! will try and remember for next time.
