Sedan Boot Light

Hi all, new to the forum having just bought 2005 T3X Saloon.

Apologies if this has been asked before, but i had a browse through and couldn't see anything.....

The only fault i have is that i can't get the boot light to work. I have tested the bulb, which is fine but my multimeter tells me that there is no voltage at the bulb holder connection. Any ideas what to try next as i have checked fuses, although i am a little vague as to which fuse it is, so looked through all and seem okay and all the other courtesy lights etc. which should be on the same fuse are working.

I assume there is a switch for the boot light somewhere, as per the door switches, but can't see one, anybody know how the light is triggered?

Such a simple thing - but boy is it driving me mad.......

Having said that - first Toyota and very pleased so far.

Thanks.

Hi, you say no live, are you checking at the contacts where the bulb touches ?? If so, remove the bulb holder completely and remove the multi plug and check again for voltage at the multiplug, use a seperate earth for testing, not the other wire in the plug, incase it is a broken earth wire fault,or you may want to try connecting your test lamp inplace of the bulb unit.

It is comon for the side panel to be removed for work, and simply forgotten to be plugged back in, yes i have done it myself.

The power suply for this i would expect to come vai either the 'DOME' fuse or SHORT pin, your hand book will give precise locations.

Have not come across any major probs yet for wiring faults.

Thanks for the reply, i did test at the multiplug, but i will need to check again with an alternative earth to be certain.

I was browsing other categories and it was suggested on some models that the 'trigger' for the light was a connection at the boot lock. Any ideas if this is the case as i guess a broken/disconnected wire at that point may be an option? Feeling lazy about stripping out the trim to check if not the case!!!!

Thanks again.

Hi mate, my boot light has a switch on it but it comes on as I unlock the doors with the remote or .... when the light has gone off after the timer operates the first action with my fingers of the boot lid lock then this lights all the interior lights before the boot is actually lifted. Anyway here is a diagram of all the interior lights circuit. post-74463-1259757138_thumb.jpg. It should help trace the fault.

Good luck with it and best regards.... Pete.

Hi Pete,

Thanks for the reply - i shall be having a look again tomorrow - mine certainly doesn't work with the interior lights. I hadn't noticed if the interior lights activate when the boot lock is touched so will be interested to see if this is the case - if all else works then might suggest that it is just a bad connection to/from the bulb holder. Thanks for the diagram, if this is the case should help figure it all out.

Regards, Steve
