Just popping in to say hello :)

I am waiting for my new Aygo Blue to arrive and am so excited. Been driving for more years than I really want to admit to and this will be my very first absolutely brand new car.

I've spent many hours going through a lot of the topics on here in an effort to find answers to my initial questions and it's been really interesting - especially seeing what people have done to personalise their cars.

My car is (or rather, will be) a 5dr MMT. After driving a 1.8 Peugeot 306 Auto for the last five years I'm sure I shall have some rather major adjustments to make to get used to my new car. How did other MMT owners adjust to the much less powerful Aygo? Any advice would be gratefully received (but don't go technical on me).

One question which I can't find the answer to - did Lucie get a brand new car?

considering that Peugeot is about 1400 kg, may be more, and Aygo 900 kg, you'll soon find out that engine's output, is not the major fun factor...

also, you'd think about spares, like tyres, pads, services, etc...

it's a city car, but won't say no to trips, you'll become a bad client for your gas-station, and tolerate with cabin sounds, ''forget'' FULL AUTO and get into MMT magic world...

Already enjoying it for 3 yrs, and 61.000 non-problem kms.....

Hi!! I've just got my Aygo blue 5dr manual on Monday, aha. My first ever new car too!

I'm sure you'll find it a bit different from the 1.8. My old one was a 1.3 Subaru Justy and when I first took my Aygo to a 70mph road.......You'll see....haha

But generally urban driving shouldnt have too much differences. And Blue looks very nice indeed....

I should probably introduce myself, too - all of the above is equally applicable to me! I'm waiting for my new Aygo blue, and this will be my first brand new car too! I've also been reading around on here for a little while to see what people thought and what they'd got up to before I committed myself!

I'm really excited - can't wait to get my hands on my new car!

Hello Sadge got my aygo blue ten days ago and i am absolutely loving it. Hope you get delivery quickly .I was lucky as it only took eight days from ordering to getting the keys .

The car is great fun to drive and has plenty of power for town driving and does not shame itself out on the open road either.

I have found the standard six speaker stereo to be perfectly adequate and with enough volume for my needs but of course i am not after a nightclub on wheels :D

Enjoy your new aygo

Hi Sadge

I'm coming up to 4 months with my Aygo. My previous car was a Saab 9000 turbo putting out about 220-230 BHP. I notice the difference on the motorway, but in congested towns the power difference doesn't matter. The Aygo is also easier to park and drinks half the fuel. I hope you enjoy your new car.

P.S If you change only one thing.. go for the bigger rear wiper

I went from a Mercedes AMG C43 with 306bhp, 0-60 in 6 seconds and 155mph on the , er , german autobann .. so it was a bit of a shock to be honest when wanting to accelerate from 50+ in 5th gear ... it didn't*. I had to relearn to judge distances and gaps so I could flow well on dual carriageways and motorways, the Merc had made me lazy....

The Aygo is slower, but actually more fun though, and it does 50mpg rather than 20-25 :D

Enjoy, especially as it is your first new car.

Andy

* It actually does of course, but slowly, now the engine has loosened up it does it faster after 20 000 miles or so.

Thanks for the welcome everyone, and hello to other new owners enjoying their new cars.

Don't know why I ever had such a powerful car (relatively speaking) as my PUG anyway as I don't do motorways if I can avoid them and really only buzz around the town or nearby, so I'm really looking forward to being a stranger at the pumps!

I'll bear in mind the suggestion about the larger rear wiper and if anybody has any other recommendations I'll certainly pay heed. I do plan on removing that long aerial as soon as I get the car - think it spoils the look. I'm assuming I can just swap it over easily?

Roll on the end of December (and not because it's Christmas)

well, everyones having new aygos - at least thats how it seems!

I've had my new aygo for about 2.5 months, done 2,800 miles, and love it!

I'm only young but i've driven:

1.9 tdi galaxy

1.7 Diesel Corsa

1.3 Petrol Yaris

1.9TDI Audi A3 (that was brand new)

And a few other cars inbetween, and although the aygo has the smallest engine, it is the most fun car to drive!

& i find 0-40 mph pretty quick i think. Moving off is quick due to its low weight. Just top end speed you notice it lacks a bit but thats the price you pay for better MPGs.

Mods so far:

Replaced the head unit as IMO its cr@p

Added an underseat subwoofer to give some depth to the music...this also stopped the tiny/rattle sound from the door Speakers.

I had a 'phone call from the dealer yesterday - Toyota have been inundated with orders, probably because of 1st December price increase and anticipated VAT rise, that I won't be getting my car until at least early January :crybaby:
