Is this a straightforward swap between the standard Toyota stereos ?

Could do with a CD in the new Rav (NV).

You could of course go for a non-OEM player, which would give you all your desired features like USB input, bluetooth handsfree, Ipod control etc... whatever you'd like.

I can warmly recommend this fascia which fit my rav perfectly, this wiring loom, and any stereo you would ever want...

PS: You don't have to buy from the seller I linked to... lots of people sell those

Thanks for that, I did consider going down that route, afraid she quite likes the MPG average display cos she's showing about 2 MPG more than me.

Must be all the extra doors I have to lug about.

Yeah, I remember that it was a slight issue when I removed my OEM player, but the benefits of having a good stereo weighs more than the benefit of having the fuel display. I started using spritmonitor to monitor fuel consumption, and found it more accurate than the display. Just have a look at the bottom of my post to see my avarage fuel consumption.

The only thing that I miss is the temperature gauge, but that can also be achieved by using a standalone temperature gauge that can be bought at any car accessory store...

Add a CD changer and keep the existing head unit? Most Toyota head units will take one attached.

Not cheap (you might get a new modern head unit for that money), but this site might give you some ideas:

some come up on eBay. The cable from the headunit to the cd changer can be trouble for some to get hold of, if going that route.
