Factory Fitted Alarm

Hi,

I have a Celica GT4 1991 model and it seems to have an alarm fitted which does not work. It has sensors up near the sunroof controls and an alarm bell box in the bonnet. I also received one hand unit (which by the way looks useless and battered) it has a Toyota logo on it, but no clear buttons, just a smooth plastic front with an LED type plastic pane at the top, which does not seem to work.

The car does have an immoboliser (key card controlled) and I was wondering whether the alarm and immoboliser were factory fitted.

Does anyone know whether it will be a toyota factory fitted alarm and also whether they were any good, is it connected to the central locking and whether a Toyota garage would be able to fix it.

I really do need to get an alarm sorted for it but it seems pointless fitting a new one if the one on there (factory fitted or not) is any good.

It depends on whether your car is an import or not. I had a 1991 GT4 UK car and that had a factory fitted alarm but only as an optional extra when the car was purchased. I had a mat who owned 2 1992 GT4 imports and none of them had alarms fitted.

The factory fitted alarm should operate the central lcoking but the alarm itself is a bag of ******. I had that alarm removed and a after market one fitted.

Yeah, it is a UK car and the alarm is definately a Toyota one.

It looks pretty rubbish and not sure whether it works or not. Probably worth taking it off and putting an after market product on.

Cheers for the reply
