96 Camary Start Up Problems

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum. I would really appreciate if you guys can help me figure out what's wrong with my 96 Camary (135K+ miles).

When I crank my car up, it starts right up and then dies. It doesn't seem to want to idle. If I give it some gas and maintain the RPM at above 1K RPM then it idles. As soon as I let off the gas, it dies. I was talking to a friend of mine and he mention that I could have a faulty EGR valve.

Could this be the problem? Is this something I can change myself or do I need to take it to the shop?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Sounds like the Cold start injector.

it gives extra gas to the motor when it first starts up.

Your holding the gas is doing about the same thing.

I'm not sure where it's at on your car.

For my "guess" it's not the EGR. I think it would have to run longer before the EGR come into play.
