Will It Have Enough Power?

Hi all, as above really,

Do you all reckon that 180BHP is enough for the FT-86?

Bearing in mind that it has been designed with drifting in mind, not drag racing. I reckon that it should be enough, provided that it's at high revs and that it has a perfect and seamless suspension set-up.

However, people will most likely want more power, especially as these people will be within the bracket of 19-25 years old. And drifting is a very small market, so it would have to be very specialised if it is to take off with them.

Well as far as I'm aware the 180BHP is only from a DOHC engine.

I'm sure they'll end up bringing out a Turbo Charged varient seen as it's co-designed with Subaru who love their Turbos! :P

I hope so! But wasn't there talk of keeping it strictly N/A recently on TOC? :P

Maybe, I Could have missed that thread.

IMO I think they'd have to bring a higher powered version out or it won't attract as many customers. People want a new Toyota Sports car, Not less powered version of the Celica.

I'd still buy one with 180BHP though, as I think they look lush. lol.

Yeh, I am in agreement with you to be honest. Maybe a supercharged version like the compressor? Turbo boost would be lovely though!

The reports would suggest that Toyota's version will be N/A with Subaru producing a Turbo'd version.

BUT! as this ticks the "interesting" box it won't be long before plenty of tuning parts are available for it ;)

I hope that's the case, I'm trying to get my dad to go for an FT-86.

No doubt I'll concoct some monstrous tuning idea... :naughty:

lol, I'd probably have it in gloss black, with white Drift rims, tinted black windows, the tail lights tinted totally red and that would be it.

Oh and a white roll cage!

Now all I need is £20k to do this, not to mention the car itself....
