I would guess this is down to the model / facelift change and that the Diesel will be back in a few months

unbelievable in this day an age of reducing CO2 etc the fact that think it is over 50% of car sales are now Diesel... it makes no sense...

but fear not... if anyone wants a nicely "run in" T180 (only 63k miles...) I have the perfect model.

My dad's got well over 30mpg from his 4.0 V8 Lexus on a run, to only just get into the 40's from a modern Diesel does seem a bit poor IMO.

its not poor, the problem good mpg and low emissions dont come together and the fact is the 2.2td dcat has one of the best power to emissions of any diesel on the market.

Strictly speaking it can be acheived... BMW 123d outputs 204bhp with only 138 co2 g/km.

The problem with our 2.2 is that it is considered old now, even with the modifications for newer cars it still produces 158 g/km and 177bhp.

Along with the DPF, the whole setup is not very advanced any more. Back in 2007 this engine/setup was the nuts in regards to performance and emission.

Still I am happy to get an overall average of 39mpg for the performance and the relatively low tax. I came from a Corolla T Sport, now that's a thirsty car and performance is not much better.

I get a lot of car for the money in my T180, it is a good all round compromise.

I have to agree with this I come from a Civic Type R (EP3) and on short runs at this time of year / cold starts the mpg was between 10-15mpg where as the T180 is a lot better and has more toys, mind you the CTR was a lot quicker 0-60 but 50 onwards the T180 is slower but not that much ;)

i can easily get 45+ if i drive sensibly. however as i drive on largly emptyish national speed limit dual carrigeways it does tend to drop to about 35ish.

but im happy with that. its better than the 18mpg i get from the rolla
