Can the 2009 latest Prius run on Ethanol blends? I'm sure I've read somewhere that it can run on E10 but am not sure.

So, can it run on E10? Can it run on E85?

Not sure where you find the stuff :rolleyes: but just curious!

Oooh I've found the answer myself. Page 107 of the Owners Manual states the following;

Fuel Types

Unleaded gasoline, Research Octane Number 95 or higher

Use of ethanol blended gasoline in a gasoline engine

Toyota allows the use of ethanol blended gasoline where the ethanol content is up to 10%. Make sure that the ethanol blended gasoline to be used has a Research Octane Number that follows the above.

So now we all know :)

I haven't researched it, but I would have been surprised had there not been provision for it.

Some parts of the U.S. require 10% ethanol by law I think and Brazil has used much higher percentages than that for some considerable time. I worked in Rio for a short while in the mid eighties and well remember the sweet smell of the ethanol fuel additive refined from sugar cane.
