Hood Didn't Lock When Car Wash

Hi everyone,

I am a new member.

Yesterday when I took my 04 4runner(700mile) to fill gas and car wash, I unlock the hood(the gas door button and the hood button are so close to each other) when I try to open the gas door. So after filling the gas I took it to car wash with the hood unlocked.

Now I found the dust on the engine cover, the tape on wire fall off. I took it to the dealer, they said it ok, and some car get dust into to hood even on 50miles.

Is it a serious problem?

Any suggestion is appreciated,
