Avensis T3s Automatic Gearbox Problem

Hi Folks

Got a question to pose re my transmission. For the last month or so (colder weather appearing?), when I put the car into "drive" first thing in the morning or after the engine being switched off for a few hours there is a delay between 5-15+ seconds in the gearbox engaging! It only happens in drive which bemuses me. "Reverse" gear engages straight away.

As you can imagine, this is infuriating sitting idle when you wish to get your journey started!

Any thoughts or explanations on this problem are much appreciated!

Update - Since my last post, i've had the filter and fluid changed but the problem still persists. Is there any electrial issue or am I looking at a rebuild? If so, any ball park figures of what it would cost?

I'd get a transmission specialist to look at it, if a new gearbox/rebuild is needed it cost a fortune, if it's that bad it might be worth selling the car and buying something else as the gearbox could cost a significant chunk of the value of the car.

My dad had an Audi 100 auto about 15 years ago and the gearbox failed on that and it cost many hundreds to get it fixed back then.
