Any Idea What These Buttons Are?

Can anyone tell me what these buttons (circled in red) are for?

I'm insuring this vehicle prior to delivery and need to know that they are not an aftermarket mod which may invalidate insurance.

They look like heated seat buttons to me....but I guess you knew that.

Original or aftermarket?

One of the Gen II guys will be along soon and they will tell you.

Looks like heated seats, i dont recall any of our new owners asking for heated seats or even seeing any heated seats fitted, having after market accessories can bugger an void you warranties, so need to be carefull.

Well the car is being sourced from Aberdeen so it somewhat confirms my suspicion, the only other option being some sort of airbag indicator?

I'll speak to the dealer again. The salesman was playing dumb. It's a good point about warranty and I'll try to get an answer as to just who fitted them. Also, would this count as a mod for insurance purposes? I imagine an underwriter would imagine fire hazard and/or excuse to bump the premium upwards.

Thanks for all your help

Had a look in the lad's Gen II brochure last night and I can't see any mention of heated seats or switches like that in any pictures so I guess they are aftermarket.

Insurance? Well they are hardly a performance mod. Up to you if you mention it to them but I would be shocked if they increase the premium because of them.

PS That's some trek to pick up our new car!

I'm assuming that the seat heaters are there because that Prius has leather seats? The "factory" leather on the Gen 2 didn't as far as I know have the heated seat option (as has already been said), and also the seat material didn't contain that much leather, i.e. some of the panels were not leather.

Thanks. The Toyota Dealer manager has emailed me and is on the case re warranty. They are checking the wiring for conformity and my peace of mind.

Much as I wanted to fly from Exeter to Aberdeen and drive back, the dealer could get the car to me for £150 which was about £100 cheaper than I estimated it would cost, flights, fuel, accomodation for one night, so it's being delivered to my door.

Coincidentally I drove a similar distance twice recently from Brisbane to the Whitsunday Islands (and back) in Queensland B) in hired 2009 Toyota Camry. A very pleasurable and comfortable experience, save for being knicked doing 118hph in a 100kph area on the Bruce Highway by a traffic cop who must have been hiding behind a gum tree. He let me off after warning he'd arrest me!

Just to close off this thread: They were heated seats. Toyota Aberdeen checked them over and were satisfied by the standard of wiring and installation, so there are no warranty implications.

Insurance was another story with a lot of head scratching and truly stupid quotes when I declared them as a mod. Underwriters seem capable of being driven by both the irrational fear and greed instincts at the same time. The cheapest quote was twice as high as when I failed to declare them. So I'll remove them.

Adrian Flux seem to be quite a good insurer when the run-of-the-mill insurers get silly over mods.
