How To Remove Ignition Key Barrel

Recommended Posts

Posted

I could remove the key whilst the car was running which made me think the barrel was on its way out and now it has finally given in. I've order a new one from my local dealer, and want to change it myself (to save money). I was wondering if anybody knows how to remove the old one. Any info would be great by means of a post or PM.

Thanks

Thanks for the info, problem I have now is that I can't turn the key at all the steering locks but I can turn the key enough to release it but no further i.e to acces position. Is there another way to get the barrel out, I'll take a couple off photos later and post them if that helps so you can explain anything to me.

As for the aes lineSPI I'll look into it for you.

Nope, you have to get the key to access position, its the only way of depressing the plunger to allow the barrell to pop out.......If you break the housing then that is expensive
