Needs looking at properly, get some one to jack it up and check ball joints & track rodends for you and ask them nicely how to check by showing you, next will be a 4 wheel alignment.... BUT you need to make sure you free off the adjusters, as they will be seized going by experience, and can take some time and effort to free off, then have the vehicle tracked, you need a source of info for the correct tracking value for a IMPORT SURF, you may want to try the UK market spec, but, even the uk market spec vehicle if the wheels/tryes are different to what mr t recommends, then the settings are not guaranteed.

You will struggle to get the info for a SURF from a dealer, unless they specialise in taking in imports aswell.

You also need to check the rear suspension aswell, incase there is deffective leaf springs or shackles

As said above.....You should aslo check the wheel bearings, make sure that the brakes are not binding and the calipers are releasing ok.

Somewhere in the mix are what are known as "bronze bushes" and i beleive these can have a similr effect to what you describe. Someone should be along to correct me if i'm wrong.

Other than that, sign up to www.hiluxsurf.co.uk and there are hundreds of Surfers that will help you out.

Regards

Paul

If the bronze bushes are worn this will cause a rattle when going over potholes, but my bet would be the bushes or arm of the idler arm, new bushes are very cheap, see about half way down the page here http://www.roughtrax4x4.com/?doc=11&cid=142
