Toyota have been doing the full launch of the Plug In today. More details here:

Apparently Autocar only had about 15 minutes on a track with that prototype. UK is getting 20 middle 2010.

Plug In also comes in a special paint colour and optional decals for that individual look.

I think looking at the figures, that Toyota have erred on the side of caution. Their range isn't as good as some conversions etc but I guess that's to do with longevity and warranty issues. Still pretty neat for me though. I do about 100-150 miles a day and 30 miles on Battery only would certainly help.

So, when can I get one?

These are a new set of plug ins based on the Gen 3. They are available to specific fleet customers only and will be delivered over the next 6 months. 20 are coming to the UK and hopefully Toyota GB will have at least 1 for magazines etc to test. Toyota are expecting to launch "in 2 years time" according to the presentation given yesterday. So expect early 2012.
