Dont laugh everyone but i have never owned a mp3 player but thinking of getting one for the Aygo so i can plug it into the aux socket on the stereo as it will be better than juggling dozens of cd's while suppose to be driving  . Can anyone recommend one please as my mate has said he will download me about 5000 songs (mostly 70s and 80s but also some current titles) so will need capacity for 5000 ish songs.....Cheers Colin

Get an ipod. Many will probably disagree with me here, but I have had 2 now and they've both served me well. They wont break on you, they are the simplest to use, and they are the most popular so people can always help you out if you get stuck with them. The down side is the price, but in my opinion, WELL worth the money. Have a look on www.apple.com/uk/

What you want is a Sansa Clip 8GB. (google it!)

Superb bit of kit. Don't just take my word for it - read the reviews. I've used them for years. Simple drag 'n drop interface, small, well built robust, sound quality is excellent etc.etc.

I've got one I leave in the car all the time and another I use with a pair of Sennheiser earphones. Puts MUCH more expensive players in the shade!!

Cheers

Dont let the cheap price put you off. They're made by Sandisk who have been making storage solutions since time began!!

Dixons online have them for the same price...not that i'd dis fleabay ;)

No, it probably won't... If you take an average song of about 3 minutes and rip it at the lowest somewhat

decent bitrate of 128 You'll end up with about 4MB per file, so for 5000 tracks you'd need between 16 and 20GB.

A 16GB iPod nano is probably best for you to start with. The user interface on the iPod is unbeatable IMHO

(though it DOES have some flaws), they're very robust and there's an ENORMOUS load of accessories available.

I started out with a 20GB iPod w/ Color Display, then an 8GB iPod nano 2, a 16GB iPod touch 1,

a 4GB iPod shuffle 3 and I've replaced the iPod touch with a 32GB iPhone 3GS last summer.

I use ALL of my iPods on a very regular basis and all have ther distinct use for me.

Some people hate the use of iTunes for filling up the player, but I personally HATE the hassle of

Drag&Drop as this is less intuitive to me and requires a lot of extra work to keep my songs organised.

But I'm a bit biased too, as I've got 15 Macs at home and no Windows-PC stuff at all...

Schould you choose an iPod then I'd recommend getting a lead that connects to the Dock-

connector, as this gives WAY better sound quality than the headphone jack does (or can)...

Obviously only had it for a few days but seems to be working very well, very small and neat and very easy to use and got about 500 tracks on it at the moment, but still room for plenty more, thanks for the recondmendation it was much appreciated and at only just over £35 with the postage it never broke the bank...Cheers Colin
