Unhappy With Your Auris? Let's Do Something About It Together, Rig

Attention all the Auris owners!

I know that many of you on this forum are unhappy with your cars. You are experiencing many problems and have visited your dealerships many times hoping to get rid of the faults. No success. In most cases your dealership tries to fix the problems, but does not succeed to do that and the faults remain present.

I am in the same situation as you are, and that's why I decided to create this topic where we would be able discuss how to get rid of the problems and become happier Auris owners. It's time for real action and what we need now is to discuss things and take it serious. Remember that the warranty lasts only for 3 years, you won't have it forever!

Our goal is to get the message to main people at Toyota. The ones who make important decisions and can provide us a solution. I don't know who they are yet but I hope we will figure that out together, along with many other important things. I know that our task will be difficult, but I believe that together we have a good possibility to succeed.

First we need to decide what are we going to do and then how are we going to do it. The last thing is we will have to DO it.

So please, let's begin by discussing who are we going to contact and what kind of letter would be easiest and most effective to write. I am hoping for good input and for serious, NON OFF-TOPIC conversation ONLY

Thanks for your attention,

Alex

im sorry you are so unhappy with your Auris.

TBH if you are so dissatisfied why have you not traded it in for another make/model??

unless a dealer can find a fault or there is an item that is actually broken there is not a lot they can do.

believe it or not there are tolerances for NVH (noise, vibration and harsheness) so just cos there is a noise you can hear dosnt mean that it is a defect.

fuel sloshing is a big one. i can hear it on mine but i have to say it really dosnt bother me. the car still drives fine and if i have the radio on i cant hear it.

this is my second Auris (i change mine every year as its leased) and other than the alternator dying on this one and a muck up with the remap on the TSpirit i had before (both sorted) they have been fine. no rattles i had to get sorted, no creased seats (a small amount of bobbling thats all).

yes there are things that could be better and if customer were willing to pay an extra £5-7k they would most likely be sorted, but as they wouldnt the car has to be made to a budget.

at least the Auris dosnt break down all the time (buy an italian or french car and see what i mean). my sister in law has a 2007 Peugeot 207cc. yes the trim and styling are really nice (its an £18,000 car new), the engine lacks power and isnt very economical. it has been back to the dealers several times. heting blower fan failure (not great when you need to demist the windscreen!!!), parking sensor failure, cruise control turns itself off (still not resolved), alloy wheels corroding.

im sure if you ask owners of other makes they will all have problems that havent or cant be fixed.

try finding the offending item that rattles behind your dash, there is an awful lot of kit behind there and ovy one item can cause noise. it may even be a noise thats not apparent to any one else.

when you find a car that is perfect and has no faults let me know.

i really doubt that any thing you do or say to Toyota will make any difference TBH

If there are build quality issues and/or poor repairs then it the matter rests with each individual owner. It is up to each individual to write a letter of complaint as under law each contract of sale is between the seller and buyer - namely whoever purchases the vehicle and the agent providing the car or service. Under UK law there is no contract between the buyer and the manufacturer. So in effect any letter of complaint must be made in the first instance to the seller and not the maker. If the seller cannot or will not ensure the vehicle is as desribed or unservicable then there may be a legal issue. This avenue of complaining should be effectively persued first and foremost. If then the problems are deemed to be a design or assembly fault only then should the manufacturer be notified but I would expect the seller or agent to have pursued this course of action before the customer. Firstly I would suggest whenever a customer has a complaint it be made in writing to the seller expressly stating they expect a written answer within a specified time. If this is not forthcoming then the owner can then approach the maker with his or her concerns again giving written details with a requested response time. Before doing so the buyer should also consider if any of his or her grievances where evident at time of accepting the vehicle when purchased.

In my experience group letters or petitions have little effect in service or marketing departments but a few post bags filled with hand written letters usually gets more attention. Additionlly sample (or pattern) letters which have been drawn up are usually ignored and in some cases can be seen as an organised means of an individual gathering support rather than a number of individual persons acting on their own behalf. If enough individuals complain in their own terms then there is a greater lielihood of action being taken. Then on the other hand if people can't be **rsed then that's entirely their own decision.

Maybe the question should be asked - "how many people have made a written complaint to the seller or agent and have they had a written reply and if so what was the response" For instance has anyone sought legal advice or contacted their local consumers advice centre.

Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware:)

I tried contacting Toyota dealership which I use for the service purposes, I tried also contacting the dealership where I bought my car from, and I contacted Finnish Toyota distributor lately. None of them takes no responsibility for the faults telling me that my car is fine. But guys, just think about it, Toyota has spent over €5000 on repairing my car so far, so I think it's pretty obvious: My car wasn't fault-free before and as the condition has remained more or less the same as in the beginning - it still isn't properly repaired. Toyota wouldn't have spent €5000 on trying to repair the car which is in perfect condition!

My next goal is to contact Toyota head office. I don't know wether it will be UK or Japan and wether I will contact them on my own or with some other guys. It must be discussed in this thread and decision should be made together with others who are willing to complain too.

Davesy, as I said, no OFF-TOPIC posts in this thread. This thread is to discuss and think HOW to complain, not to discuss wether it's worth complaining or not. That means messages like "your car is good enough" should not be posted in this thread, please!

Best regards, Alex

Mr T will only look at individual cases, will also look for any altered items which will invalidate any warranties, they are very desisive with their decessions aswell.

Even if a default is reported within warranty period, it has to be worked on during the warranty period, even 2 weeks out of warranty mr T will stay no,sorry,or they may offer some form of help.

Any views compliants as suggested before should be taken up by the individual with Mr T and not wait for a group of faulty items or situation etc etc. You may just lose out and have no where to go.

Firstly Alex I am sorry you are disappointed with your Toyota and I do sympathise as I had a similar unhappy experience with a Celica a few years ago.

Secondly I can understand your frustration at the problems you are having with your vehicle.

I always agree with freedom to express ones own opinions in any disputes but I can't allow this thread to continue in the way that it has.

It would have been polite to ask for such a thread to be posted regarding our many members (the vast majority who are very satisfied with their Toyota's), dictating the terms in which replies should be made I also find very restrictive on an open forum.

If you want to complain to the manufacturer regarding your own personal issues then please feel free to do so but don't use Toyota Owners Club as a personal vendetta against the company.
