Passenger Airbag Light Flashing?!

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi, I recently bought an Aygo and the passenger airbag light has started flashing on the dashboard whilst I'm driving, despite it being in the 'on' position. I've phoned up Toyota and they've booked it in for a diagnostics check to see if it's something electrical, hope it's nothing too serious. Anyone had this before? Thanks :)

The light on you dashboard isn't just for the passenger airbag; it's a diagnostic light too.

When you turn off the passenger airbag the light will be lit continously, if there's an error

in the system it will blink. I've had the light blink on mine too, but that turned out to be

a "glitch" dus to driving over bumps while the system was still calibrating.

They reset it at the dealer and it never ocurred again...

Well I took it to the dealer today and now it's booked in to have a new E.C.U next week. Bit of a fiddle but hopefully it will sort it! The flashing light in the meantime is slightly annoying and the airbags aren't operational, which I guess is better than them going off when they're not supposed to. Anyway, I was impressed by the service at the dealer! Happy Christmas everyone :D

Right. Set off today to get the part fitted - slightly delayed but phoned the dealer to say we'd be a bit late. Got a phone call from my mum who was at home to say Toyota had rung to say the part wasn't in! Anyway we were nearly at the dealer by this point (20 miles from our home), so decided to go in and see what was what. Turned out that Toyota's parts depot in the Midlands couldn't get the part out to the dealer due to the heavy snow. I wasn't terribly impressed, but I guess it can't be helped - everything's a bit haywire around Christmas time, made worse by the on-off weather. So they're going to phone us when the part's in - not going to be until next week though. Still, I suppose it's one of those things. And it was a good excuse for a run in the Aygo!! Happy New Year...
