Hi There.

Don't worry,

The Aygo discs rust overnight if you breathe out near the car.

Normal use will remove the rust in a couple of days.

I presume you are driving very gently in the current conditions

so it may take a little longer than usual.

Normal driving will soon get rid of any surface rust. Its normal.

As mentioned this is entirely normal.

All cars with disc brakes made from steel will do this. (So if you want to avoid it either buy an early S1 Lotus Elise with MMC brake discs or some form of exotica fitted with ceramic brakes - please note that this brake option alone will probably be more than the price of a new Aygo).

The reason is that discs are made from mild steel and as a ferrous material this will rust, it is not possible to coat or cure the steel in any way as this would seriously impair the braking performance, hence no stainless steel or coated discs.

During normal operation friction between the pad and disc will result in wear of both the pad and the to a lesser degree the disc (again no point in coating the disc as this would wear off over time). This maintains a highly polished clean surface of the disc which makes it all the more susceptable to rust.

It does not represent any lack of quality or fault with the discs and will clean up as you use the brakes. Take a look on any garage forecourt and you will see that all disc brakes, regardless of make and model, will experience the same effect.

Regards, Neil
