Hmmm bit hard to read your text their...

Any how... have they tried the High Pressure Fuel pump and lines... Mine was doing something similar but it turned out to be a fuel pipe air leak...

If the Turbo + SCV have been changed..they started with the expensive stuff first then.... Just to make the owner feel wanted. ;) ;)

Other more technically minded on mechanical gubbins will be along shortly...so hold on for some more....

Yeah a bit hard to follow there, does that mean it is now fine except under 1200 revs?

Keeping it over 1200 revs sounds fairly normal, I'm not sure it is possible to drive anywhere at all without exceeding this? The only time you're really going to have lower revs than this is when idling which should be around 800 revs. In the cold weather this usually jumps up a little, if it doesn't there is a button to the right below the steering wheel - idle up - this will increase revs on idle to around 1200 till the engine warms up. It will also use more fuel and is not necessary once the engine is up to optimal temperature - this can take a while (up to 20 mins) in very cold weather so be sure to switch it off once the job is done.

A healthy car is unlikely to need this switch much in this country although it has been pretty damned cold recently.

hi mate

all investigations are normally started from code reading + after compression ratio measuring.

in case all is in order with twos, then you have to follow step by step having read manual. the best manual is here on the forum :)

all we know rav is powered by diesel so you must conside power unit as complete giving its outcome by means all units belong to. In casce one or two units faults -- this will leed to a power loss. Before fuel filter change you had to cecognise when it was last changed -- OK changed -- with no result; why have they changed SCV ??? whether they checked their performance? There are several main points resulting power loss, as below:

- poor fuel injection;

- poor performance of turbo;

- blocked EGR valve.

- injection timing monent.

- fuel filter clogging (very seldom).

- air filter clogging.

all others are consequences of the above.

i hope this helps.

PS-I have not seen the manual for diesel ravs but all is based on the practice.

Can you give any more info? Does it sound OK, is there any fault codes?

BTW - don't be offended but using text speak breaks the house rules so you'll have to humour us old stick in the mud's and use good old Engish!!!

I sympathise if you really do have spelling difficulties but all you need to do is cut out the use of text speak or your posts will be deleted. Don't worry about odd spelling mistakes - we all do it;

Please do let us know what the garage says and have a look at this from saffron;

went down the garage to day after work . went for a drive in the rav all seemed fine till it warmed up then all of a sudden no power at all (no lights came on)

still able to drive by reving up to 3500 aprox and sliping the cluch . but very little power managed 2 get back to garage just .

i did see a little black smoke from the exaust at this time .

seemed 2 me like the engine was chokin its self.

tryed sumthing ! removed the small pipe conecting the turbo 2 the vsv valve and went for a short drive no problem at all seemed to drive realy well with out any problem

so it looks like the problem is with vairable part of the turbo or the vsv valve . the garage is lookin tomoro

thanks four your help let you know when its fixed !

Is the Induction pipe from the turbo to inlet collapsing under load (strangling the engine and causing black smoke ) ??
