Manual Rear Window Regulator

Hi,

Hoping someone can advise,

On my 1999 Avensis Hatch, rear passenger side.

The wire has snapped on the window regulator and my window will not stay up, can anyone advise whether the whole unit needs replacing or can I just replace the wire.

I think theres a guy on eBay who sells cable, etc but in all honesty replacing the cable on its own can be a PITA plus yu may find some of the pulleys damaged anyway. I have never bothered trying a repair and have always gone for a replacement regulator unit either new, second hand or an after-market one if available.

In the meantime you could remove the door liner and prop the window in the closed position using a couple of pieces of suitable wood.:)
