Adult Airbag Warning Light

I've just bought an Auris SR180 which I've yet to drive any distance due to the roads being so bad with ice and snow at the moment, but one thing that is really annoying me, is the airbag warning light just underneath the climate control buttons.

It is warning me that the passenger "Adult" airbag is on, as opposed to not being on when you would use a child seat in the front.

It is 99.9% unlikely I will ever put a child seat in the back of the vehicle let alone the front, so does anyone know how I can disable this 'warning' light? At night, it is so bright, it really does spoil the look of the built in sat nav screen.

I don't want to turn off (or change) the airbag setting, I just want to lose the warning light, or dim it even.

The other thing, is my SR180 came with no spare tyre, but there are two emergency puncture sealant kits in the car and an air compressor! Is this usual for Toyota? All my previous cars (Corolla, Avensis, Verso) had a spare tyre, and I was quite shocked to not find one with this car. Or was this an optional extra for the previous owner maybe?

That light is really annoying, especially at night. I am interesed in switching it off too.

Maybe it is possible to pull out the bulb? Only the one that tells that airbag is on

I believe disabling the light is impossible using ordinary manouvres/buttons. It is also impossible to "remove the bulb" in an ordinary way, as if I remember correctly there are LEDs in there which are soldered into their places. When/if you'd be willing to enable the warning light option again, it would be much harder if you removed those LEDs.

To me the only smart way is to make a modification using for example black tape. I made this last summer, removed climate control unit, opened it up and put some tape in there. Too bad I wasn't smart enough to cover the ALARM light also. It's stupid when it's blinking and there's no alarm in the car

Best regards, Alex

Oh, Man! A new T180 and ice and snow everywhere! You are in for such a big smile when all this crud goes away and you can really open her up!

All T180's came without a spare I'm afraid, but if you do a search you'll find you can get a spacesaver tyre and wheel to fit.

Hi alexC, are you sure there's no alarm in his T180? Mine came with a full alarm system factory fitted, shock sensors and all...

I am not sure about his car, because I don't know about equipment levels in the UK, and even if his car did not came with alarm when new, it's possible to get one installed afterwards at Toyota dealer. I was talking about my own car :)

Best regards, Alex
