Fixing Water Leak In Boot.

When we first got the AYGO it had a small leak in the boot, so i removed the rubber plug in the boot floor and set about investigating the leak, i ran a stick of chalk around the boot seal and around the boot floor under the back light and boot lock.

I removed the boot seal and squeezed sealer down the groove and put it back on and that seem too do the job...then we had that bad rain two weeks back and a leak was spotted again, this Time coming from around the back lights,i removed the o/s back light and checked the seal ,all seemed fine but on closer inspection the water was coming in above the light, i looked and looked and it dawned on me its coming in a roof level, turns out the 3rd brake light was ****** in water.

The 3rd brake light had a small crack across the washer get end of the Lence( not sure if this is going to become a common problem ) so i dried the Lence seal and added silicon sealer around the Lence and refitted it, next day we had snow and sub zero temperatures so I've not be able to recheck it ,as it needs another good downpour to Be sure but I'm 99% sure its going to be the problem, something you guys can have a look at, its only held in by two screws and once removed you can see if you have water inside.

I've priced up a new lamp, its 56.00 but if the sealer works I'll leave it at that :) .

Been out to look in boot and can now confirm that the leak was from the 3rd high level brake light , as after all the bad weather the boot is bone dry.

Hey man i just found my boot liner on the left side of my boot damp both of them and the bottom left side of the boot had water in it, im guessing its from all the bad weather we been having lately i never noticed a leak in my boot before ill be sure to check around the third brake light although its on one side and not the other any suggestions?

Unscrew the 3rd bake light and see if its wet inside, also look inside the hole and see if water as been running inside the car, my advise is to seal the 3rd bake light first then look for leaks lower down , maybe the rear light units and also rub some chalk around the rubber boot seal, anywere the water get past the seal will wash the chalk off :) .
