Ipod Transmitter

Looking for advice on make of Ipod transmitter that will work well with the radio in an 08 Avensis TR which has the integrated Satnav system. Have tried and returned one unit that offered four transmit frequencies. Tuned the radio to the selected frequency and saved it on one of the radio 'buttons' but shortly after the Ipod music started to play the radio drifted off the channel to find a local radio station. Happened with all four channels on the unit so gave up.

Understand the car radio aerial being in the back window on the Avensis may be part of problem. Is there a particular make / nodel of Ipod transmitter that has been found to perform well in the Avensis TR?

Hi,

It was your fault that the unit shifted frequencey & it was not a fault in the transponder. It was due to you having the radio set to automatic seek. Your radio does not detect it as a radio frequency, then after a set time automatically seeks a new frequency.

If you set it to manual seek, it will work.

This happened to me with the one I have now & I realised it was shifting for a reason, but thought initially it was a faulty unit. After about 4 days of perseveiring with it & ready to throw it from the window, I decided to change it to manual seek & that did the trick. It has not changed frequency since then, which is now over 9 months.

Get another one & it will work as long as you set it to manual seek it will work. Mine is set to 94.0 FM & the only time I get a problem is when I'm in the borders, when it starts to pick up Radio Scotland for some reason. But I have a secondary button now set for this & change the frequency.
