Chipping The Ecu (all Models)

Does anyone know which other Toyota models use similar technology ECUs to the AW11 mk1 MR2 and the Corolla AE86?

I am asking this because I am able to modify these ECUs to make them reprogrammable. Any Toyota ECU of a similar ERA (1980s) with the same microcontroller chip should be upgradeable.

I have done this successfully with the ECUs for the UK AW11 MR2 NA models and the UK Corolla AE86 ECUs.

I extract the masked ROM code from the micro in the ECU and then replace the micro with a module that runs the original ROM code/maps but can be reprogrammed at will.

I can alter all the stock fuel (there are lots of fuel maps!) and ignition maps, the TVIS thresholds and the rev limiter (or ANY part of the ECU code I wish)

I also produce a module that taps into the hidden diagnostic capability within the ECU.

This allows high data rate monitoring of all current engine management data as the car is being driven. Eg throttle, rpm, EFI pulse width, speed in mph, ignition timing, air temp, coolant temp, MAP sensor, mpg and lots more.

See www.jmross.freeserve.co.uk/page1.html

for the diagnostic module info. (The reprogrammable module is larger than this).

I am sort of hoping the other Toyota models Supra, Celica, Camry etc will be similar.

Can anyone provide an answer?

I am about to produce a production version of the module and I would like to make it fit as many Toyota models as possible.

Thanks

I drive a corona in hk ( = carina e) we try to reprogram the ecu but I find that it so hard to chane the setting!and you mean reprogram is just copy the rom out of the mask rom and reprogram in a flash rom? or changing the setting inside?

I copy out the masked ROM and program this into a separate micro module. I then fit this in place of the original micro. If I don't change the code the car runs exactly as standard.

can i take the cover off my 88 22re pickup's ecu and find out for you?

it uses afm, not map ...

don't quote me on this but i'd hve thought the ecu's were the same on both these cars cos os the engines the 4-age / 4-agze etc.

so...

i'd suspect that any car that is capable of handling these engines would use a similar ecu.
