SCAM, you get what you pay for. Chances are its a plastic box with a bit of circuit board and thats about it, build cost a few pence.

fools the engine to thinking there is more air getting into it all it is is a resistor it will give u slight performance inprvement for about a week then the resistor will burn out all in all its not worth the hassle

Cabcurtains is of course right. Obviously it's a scam. Getting 25bhp more from the 1kr-fe is difficult and expensive.

This device works by making the car run too rich; i.e. there is too much fuel in the fuel/air mixture. This means that more fuel is burnt than would be otherwise. This can cause other problems such as fouled spark-plugs and damage to the catalytic converter and other parts of the exhaust system.

You will probably see a slight improvement in performance but only at high revs, otherwise it is a complete waste of money.

If improving engine performance was really that easy, all cars would have these fitted next to the "air magnet".

It's the unburnt fuel that causes the problem not that more fuel is being burnt.

If more fuel was being burnt then there is a remote possibility the engine would develop more power. But these chips cause overfuelling whereby not all the fuel is being converted into energy and worse still inhibits efficient combustion thus in effect reducing power output. Its the unburnt fuel that causes damage to the CAT, and other engine components even to the point of diluting the engine oil with catastrophic effects. One other aspect of over-fuelling is to cause the engine to run cooler therfore not reaching its optimum operating temperature.

I say if anyone is gullable enough to buy one and fit it and take the risk then they should be prepared to have deep pockets.
