Just picked the car up from its three year service, previously had a 3 year service plan with the dealer which if memory serves me right was around £390, which seemed fair when I purchased the car from new...

Anyway, dealer said "we'll prepare you a quote for another 3 year plan"...

Looked at the quote.... £538!!!! :o

This is simply for the next 3 servcies... not an extended warranty or anything else.

Now am I being stupid in thinking this is a compete joke? You should have seen my face when I was given it, I even asked them if they were serious... its not like there is much in the car to service (sewing machine size engine!)

Ask if that is the dealers own plan or the Toyota plan.

I paid £279 for mine 18months ago and that was the Toyota one, the dealers own plan was much more expensive.

£538, thats ridiculus our Verso Diesel is less than that!

I've posted extensively on this before ;)

The reason that costs were lower was because they were subsidised by Toyota GB. This made the 3 and 5 year Service Plans very attractive. Be warned however, many Dealers will quote you a plan that ties you to their Dealership Group only and will use smoke and mirrors to confuse you.

If you want to buy a Service Plan, then please make sure you get the Toyota GB one!

It is still possible to get quoted circa £500 [for the 5 Year Plan] if your Dealer doesn't know what they are doing. A case in point is our Aygo (bought July '09) that has the full Toyota GB 5 Year Service Plan for £500 ;)

The plan is the dealer one...and yes ties me to their group.

I found out about the toyota one too late after buying the car.. had I known then then I would have gone down that route..

I simply thought that this was a very expensive quote, I know that its for 3 servcies but still thought they were having a laugh :ffs:

Probably just not go down the service plan route and pay for them as they occur....
