do you mean recovery USING a 4x4 vehicle (so can get to your vehicle in conditions a normal recovery vehicle could not)? or are able to Recover a 4x4 vehicle?

When my Celica GT4 broke (perm 4x4), the RAC patrol used a Dolly to tow my car to the garage - think they all carry one just in case.

not sure if that helps!

Your not supposed to tow a regular Perm 4x4 as it will knacker the driveshafts... it has to be loaded onto a low loader.... when my RAV needed this done... I said it's a perm 4x4 and they said... Oh it has to be piggy backed on a low loader....

Rambler.... I've only seen a few recovery companies with 4x4.... and the RAC/AA are very rare in using these....

Hi Chatman - yup, you are quite right and I pointed this out to the RAC Man, who then got the dolly on the rear wheels (front set were hoisted up) so it was towed, but not on its own wheels

same response - most breakdown outfits can deal with 4x4s as 30% of their work is recovering landrovers...and thats why they don't use landrovers
