Hammered by the CRV, must do better! ;)

Aygo/Peugeot 107/Citroen C1 are essentially the same car yet they come 13th/32nd/91st, what this means to the survey i'm note sure

I'd make a guess that the place has gone bust; the guy got swept away in a snow avalanche; the landrover rotted away from the caustic effect of the diesel leaks; and the insurance refuse to pay out as the MOT lapsed months ago!

Isn't this survey about how close a car comes to meeting the buyers expectations and how helpful or otherwise main dealers are?

I would imagine the person who purchases a Lexus has different expectations than someone who buys an Alfa but the survey shows you how those expectations compared to reality.

Saw a similar article to this in the local rag:

Whether it really means anything is debatable, but, may or may not make 4.2 owners feel better. Still beaten by a h*nka though :crybaby:

To be honest my feeling is that Mr T. has tripped up a tiny bit in the reliability stakes with the 4.3, compared with the 4.2, perhaps because the 4.3 is a fair bit more complex. That shouldn't be an excuse though. Be interesting to see how the 4.3.5 fairs.

This might make Corolla users feel better: MOT Failures

There's also a spreadsheet of test passes and failures:MOT Spreadsheet . For RAVers, search for the RAV4 as RAV-4

How come, in the JD power survey the Disco and Gaylander come in at 38 and 69 out of 100 but "which" put em 5th and 6th most UN-reliable??

Unless the owners are rating the coffee at the L-R stealers it seems as ever that "statistics" can prove anything..

Having owned many "European" cars before moving to "Jap" stuff, I just accepted that my Vauxfordpugrenfiatdi-M-Rover would break down. Low expectation..

Having made the jump to the Toyota product via Honda, my expectations have risen dramatically. Civic Vti 100%, Land-Cruiser 100%, Verso2 100%. I don't expect my new car to go wrong and I resent being a test engineer for the worlds largest car company as we have been with the T180.

However listening in to others ranting in my office to their "main stealers" about things, I still believe that the Toyota product is good, just that the RAV 4.3 T180 was not tested properly???... moan over..

Depending on what questions are asked, and who are asked to answer them, surveys should be taken with a large pinch of salt and grit.

Always amazed though that companies like Toyota don't send out annual surveys direct to its customers (registered via the dealerships for example) for improvements, our whinges, etc. How can they improve on the RAV if they don't ask the people who use them daily? How can they roll out vehicles with run-flats/ support rings, clunky 2nd gear changes, etc., and learn not to repeat their mistakes?

Maybe we should propose Toyota customer services give the TOC RAV4 moderators a direct line to speak on our behalf?

I think Japanese car buyers see cars as a practical item and want them to be reliable products which is why they generally do well because they are reliable, other brand buyers want other things eg German premium brand buyers feel a need to be superior and its unlikely they will want to loose face and say it wasn't as good as they thought it would be.

Anyone who buys a french or italian car must just hope it wont be as bad as people say it will be, sadly it turns out to be worse and then they just complain and want to blame someone else for their mistake.

As for LR i will never forget a customer telling me how bad their Freelander was and they would buy an X-Trail next time round, 6mths later they were in my showroom again killing time because their new Freelander was dead again. I think these people see prestige in LR...

Am i making any sense
