Projector Headlights On A 03 Rav4 (pics)

After an accident my RAV4 needed a replacement right-side headlight and body parts/work for the front.

Nobody makes complete units for 4.2 rav4s, so I bought a pair made for 4.3s (06-08). So as it's being repaired my RAV4 is being retrofitted to handle 06+ headlights. Should done by tomorrow.

well done

I fitted the same on my 1994 model - only problem I've had is getting the height adjuster motor spindle to fit into the headlight socket - it keeps popping out! Make sure the electrics are ok with them too - just blown a fuse when I switched on the dipped headlight so either a bad connection or fuse too small

To fit 4.3 headlights on a 4.2 took some determination and effort - a very commendable job.

Any chance of sending some of that sun up to the northern hemisphere???

Yeah ..i'm not too excited about the running lights tho.

@anchorman - we're praying for the rains right about now. Hasn't been raining as it should for the last year or so, but enough to keep the grass green.

No lighted pics yet since all the electrical is not done. But it's good for day driving :)

My only quirk is that how the grill and front part of the hood is. Looks kinda weird, I'll have it fixed later.

Klark

Can you take a photo from a little further away? Did you have to cut the hood and the front panel? Do you do all the bodywork and painting yourself??

Just curious!

Well it was fresh from an accident. A local bodyshop was doing the repairs and halfway through i decided to do this with the lights instead of buying the original ones.

The hood needed a thin strip of metal on both sides to cover the headlights. Also the edges of the front (where the top turn signals are) needed to be cut to the shape of the new headlights. The right side of the vehicle needed the most reconstruction because of the accident.

The quirk I was talking is where if you look hard enough you'll see the space in the grill where the hood lever is.
