Clunking From Rear

Hi all,

i managed to put my 02 avensis hatchback into a slide on ice at a very low speed and the right side of the car bounced off the curb and i carried driving forwards as normal

no problems the next time i drove it but then i started hearing this clunking/rattling sound just as the car gets moving and just as the car is about to stop, somewhere from the rear, possibly the right side

no sounds while the car is running.

thought i might have done some damage to the axle and decided to take it in to get checked today

there was no sound on the way in to get it checked so i drove back home

any idea what it might be and what damage a slide onto the curb can do?

Bouncing a wheel of a kerb can cause numerous problems and the fact that here was an unusual noise would indicate that something took a knock. Just because the noise disappeared doesn't mean all is OK. It is possible something got bent but now has broken. In the interests of your own safety and others I would suggest you get it examined - could also save a load of money in the long run.:)

just spoke to someone from mr t at leicester

they have asked me to bring it in if the sound reappears, but did not seem too concerned as the car was driving ina straight line without any problems
