Hi to all interested in this issue, my 2.2d4d is in for a few similar problems as we speak but without taking this post somewhere else I was wondering if Lexus owners are having similar problems with the IS 220d as it uses the Toyota 2.2 d4d180 engine. I have heard of them having injector problems on the earlier IS220D but what about all the other problems that Avensis owners are plagued with?

Regards Pete.

Sorry to be a party spoiler... have just done 60K, and had only one claim on rear window heater - window was replaced.

60K service was not cheap though, as EGR needed cleaning, and front disks as well. (tphoo tphoo tphoo, knock on wood, etc etc....)

Just had 20k on a t180 and need to take it back for

master cylinder warranty

They did say that they have cleaned my EGR valve... wonder if they should have changed it?? I mentioned concerns about the fuel comsumption and they said that the EGR valve was very dirty and now should be fine..

So far so good - 30k Service just carried out and had the front tyres replaced - no issues to date over the last 12k, only front discs skimmed at 20k service before I bought it.

I'm hoping regular use of Toyota diesel treatment and regular motorway journeys will keep the EGR valve clean!

Whats this Toyota diesel treatment??

I use 3 different motorways when I go to work and I still required my EGR valve to be cleaned!!!

Toyota sells a high quality diesel additive that keeps the internals clean but beware some dealers try and flog you non-genuine stuff - this happened to me recently in Toyota Leeds; if I wanted a non-Toyota product I'd be in Halfords :ffs:

Thanks for that but how do you know if it is non-toyota product?? Label??

Have a look at

http://www.toyotadirectparts.co.uk/product...mables-2-0.html :-)

Just seen some genuine Toyota diesel cleaner on eBay VERY cheap :-) and bought 3 bottles :D

Having sold these potions, make sure its for a common rail system as the stuff for non common rail can wreck the injectors.
