Speakers - Some Clarification Required

Okay. I've been delving around here and on rav4world about installation of new Speakers into my 4.2 5dr. The main issue it would seem is the depth/clearance and how the mounting is done (i.e. MDF mount, re-use the speaker chassis, get some SAT6s etc.) and I'm a bit confused. You guys seem to have most of the answers, so, for the avoidance of doubt, can someone confirm to me what the maximum depth is of a 6.5" speaker into a 4.2 front door, and qualify that by saying which mounting method that's for :)

I am in the UK but I can get SAT6 on eBay so I'm quite happy to do that if it gives me the most options for speaker depths. I am also handy with a jigsaw and a bit of MDF if necessary. I just want the tidiest and best spec'd option :)

Thanks guys!

I re-used the speaker chassis. Worked really fine, because I didn't have to change any wiring. If there is any issue with space after doing this mod, then there is always the option of getting the SAT6 (or similar).

Good luck!

That's cool, can you tell me what Speakers you used so I can see how deep they were?

Cheers,
