For a little more power you could drop the 5EFE in, From a paseo. Could do the whole swap in a day easy. A 5EFE with port and polish/manifold/decat exhaust should see "roughly" 100 bhp, beofre you need to mess with fuelling/ecu's ect. Engines can be found for cheap cheap aswell if you look in the right places :)

i've seen on one of the car mags that someone had done a 4AGE 20valve Blacktop conversion to their starlet/galanza (cant remember exactly). not sure how much work that involves tho...

Yeah, thats was pretty 1 off. The boy had someone do it for him so his thread was a bit "vague" it did require welding and making up new mounts though.

His build thread was on a UK starlet forum ;)

Just the paseo....the sera had a 5EFHE, more power due to compression and inlet diffrences but the wiring is totally diffrent so not that easy. Theres plenty of Paseos about, just need to look ;) I'll show off now by saying i have 1 sitting in the garage for "future" plans

Theres a paseo for sale on gumtree for £220  Whole car, short MOT but still worth ripping the engine out and weighin the rest in. Also know of 2 other engines for sale on other forums.Just depends how desperate you are for an engine.Always 1 or 2 pop up.

personally I dont see the point in the hassle of a 5efe for the small power gain you get, just bite the bullet and 4efte it like a man!

LOL, theres no hassle in doing a 5E swap, honestly do it in a day. Doing the FTE swap is the hassle, been there and done that ;)

The gumtree paseo is in Edinburgh section.
