Wing Mirror

Hi all, been a silent member of the forum for a while, and wish that my first thread would be a better one than this.

My driverside wing mirror has been hit, and is now hanging off of the car. The wing mirror itself is fine, but the bit where it connects to the car is broken. There are 4 screws underneath the bit that has broken, and I've taken them all out. It's just the cable itself now that is going into the wing mirror that is holding it on. I've given a gentle tug and it's still attached.

Does anybody know whether I can just give it a good pull for it to come off, or whether the plug to detach the mirror is in the car itself?

I will post pics up when it's not raining. I'm gutted.

DON'T PULL IT OFF!!! :o

There are electric motors inside the mirror that control its movement as well as the indicator, if you pull it off you may damage the wires and cause a short circuit, that will at least cause a fuse to blow or at worst cause an electrical fire.

Please get someone who knows what they are doing to sort it, I know it will be expensive but it will save money in the long run.

Thanks for all of the replies guys. I had it done by a local garage instead of Toyota, so saved £25.

Paid £185, and have kept all of the other bits, just in case it happens again but something else breaks.

That's the problem. The roads are full of scumbags who know what they've done but drive off. I saw one White Van Man hit a car's mirror in London. He slowed down after he did it and I could see him checking it out in his passenger's mirror before he drove off at speed. I waved at him and that caught his attention. I made a note of the reg no and the driver and left it on the car's windscreen with my phone number. The owner phoned me later and thanked me. I sent an email to him with a rough sketch where I saw it happen from but I don't know if the outcome was successful for him or not.
