No Lift Engaging!

First of all hi folks this is the first toyota i have owned and am hating it. Bought it as a cheap runabout after smashing my scooby. First and foremost the rev limits at 5000, so absolutely no lift. Had a full diagnostic done along with a service and the maf sensor was supposedly broken although on inspection it looks clean and a replacement seems to have been fitted. I got one out of the scrappies though but exactly the same problem. I was told the cat is absolutely f***** and rattles upon startup and the code for the rear sensor also came up. Iwas told this should be fine if i change the cat. The Engine when warmed up sits at the last bar before the top is this half way? would any of these factors cause no lift. Its a 2000 model with 120000 on her and is mint apart from this MAJOR problem.

I would greatly appreciate any help as this would stop me throwing money in the wrong places cheers!!!

if yours is the 140 model, as it says in your stats, then you do not have Lift

Yours doesn't have 'lift' because it is a vvti, not a vvtli.

Your feeling the pain that is had by having an engine too small for the car. ;)

I didn't mean anything by it, I am fully aware that a scooby would toast me.... I stated that you weren't happy because the engine was too small for the car it was in.

the gen7 models before the facelift had major engine issues esp using loads of oil, I think its a very bad car to have.

Problem with the scoobi is as soon as you up the power the gearbox breaks, unfortunately its the weak factor in that car as far as i know.
