Need Advice On Replacing Seat Airbag

I recently had a pretty big crash with my Gen 7 Celica. The impact was mainly side on so the passenger side seat airbag deployed in the crash. The car has been rebuilt par this one airbag as I'm not sure what to do. Can the airbag module be replaced, if so how? If not, how much are complete seats going for?

There are companies online who can both repair air-bag seats and also reset SRS (secondary restraint sytem) modules but be careful as your insurer may not be happy - best to check it out with them first.

Would you buy a second hand car where the safety sytems had been previously repaired unprofessionally??:)

In the interests of safety it would be prudent to check this aspect out first.:)

Oh, didn't realise there are companies who specialise in airbag replacements. Any recommendations?

I agree, this needs to be done properly. Don't however believe my insurance company is that bothered on 3rd party insurance. They weren't too concerned how I was going to get the car back on the road in the first place, let alone the finer details of how I get my airbag replaced.

Looking at a few sites, it seems you send the SRS module to them for resetting. Any places near East London where I can actually go and get the job done?

  • 1 month later...

Update. OBD shows no error codes for the airbag sytem, the seat airbag has been replaced and connected.....but the light is still on.

I guess that because their are no error codes (mechanic hooked it up to several OBD computers) that the airbag is fine. Question then is, how do you reset the airbag computer/module?....assuming it just needs resetting?
