The Auris SR180/T180 MPG is a big gripe here, the main problem is that the MPG is a lot less than Toyota quote. I can get 45MPG in the summer on a run but have been down to 25MPG over the last 2 weeks, I will say I filled up toady and reset the trips etc and the MPG is upto 35 with the 4oc. What have you had out of your SR180 and how does this compare to the Civic as I looked at one of these before we bought the T180 last January.

well i had 51mpg outta the civic up to the garage 331 miles, and had 48mpg outta the sr180 coming back home same route 331 miles, did give the sr180 some right footed love now and then on way back too

Had 48mpg out of my t180 today on a fairly long journey myself too.

Now the air temp. are higher it's creeping up a bit.

One thing I will say is as soon as you use the car for work or similar all the cold starts and shorter journeys do result in lower mpgs. I typically get about 41 - 44mpg depending on the temperature, time of year and the amount of short journeys I do over the tank.

Worse tanki ever had was about 37mpg in mid winter and mostly short journeys.

Think I had a 36Mpg tank a couple of years ago too

Welcome and you made a fine choice.

A little off topic i guess but i have to admit that as a result of the MPG debate, i thought i'd keep a very precise track of my fuel and distance covered since September last year, just so that i can grasp just how economical the car is.

Well since 8th Sept my T180 has averaged 38.53MPG, best tank is 42.98 and worst is 33.05, just on fuel i am averaging 13p per mile... there are a plethera of other geeky info that i work out from my spreadsheet but the key figures are here.

Curiously the best tank was achieved in mid December when it was very very cold, but also the worst tank was also in December, this is a contradiction to the cold-temperature-poor-MPG argument. The best tank was done over a long run with maybe 10% town driving and 90% motorway, the worst was 90% town. I know that the kind of driving that you do is the SINGLE overriding factor when it comes to your fuel economy, my spreadsheet suggests this, but i will collate the data until next September to make a proper conclusion. Still the cold does contribute SOME to the overall economy but the single biggest factor is type of driving.

Anyway, hope you enjoy it and enjoy these excellent forums.

took it for a right <I thought I could get past the swearing filter - what a sad muppet I am eh?>in' blast earlier, fair play it goes very well for a oil burner (diesel)

handles very well even with vsc/traction off, and doesn't feel like a heavy lump like the civic did

Hi,

8Sorry to butt in. Huge gripe my 58 plate SR180 is doing 30.5mpg when my other half takes it to work its a good 60 mile journey there & back. So the car is having a good run down the m54. I love the car to bits but for a diesel god dam it drinks the juice nearly as bad as my scooby....

That's awful.

Have you asked the garage to check? I drove to Wales from Stafford along the m54 and that round trip to west Wales gave me 44mpg. That was just before Christmas when it was below freezing.

Was up in Manchester recently at 47mpg.

To and from work I'm about 39-41mpg at the moment.

It seems like something is amiss at 30mpg.

My giddy aunt!

I just looked in for the first time in 2 years after thankfully seeing the back of my T180, the same old argument goes on and on, just face it, the fuel consumption is miserable, thats why I got rid of mine. I replaced it with a proper car, a Vectra 150, its better to drive, easily as quick, everything works and nothing has gone wrong in 40K, unlike the Toyota. MORE IMPORTANTLY, it has averaged 51.5 mpg in that distance!!! gets around 60 on long runs. My T180 Avensis averaged 37mpg over 46K, and of course.... TOYOTA will never admit the engine has issues :P

BUT, my Vectra doesn't have a stupid crazy DPF fitted :D

yep, he aint the only one to be only getting circa 30mpg, had mine fom new, (08 plate) sr180, done 24k in it upto now and i get roughly 33/34mpg, always have done. never get any more than 350 miles out of a tank. should have kept my previous megane dci was getting 750miles per tank out of that. lol.

I cleaned the egr last weekend, done 1 week and had to fill up again last night at 320 miles on the trip so dont think it made any difference, maybe worse?

I still find it amazing that Toyota dont admit there is a problem. I mean only about 10% of folk get what they should!

Dont trust the trip computer 100% as I have found that IMO it can be upto 4MPG out and always says less than you have done.

We have always managed 350 miles from a tank and in normal condition we average around 380-400miles, we have even managed around 460miles last summer on a trip to scotland but will add I have never had more than 46.1MPG on the trip computer over a tank of fuel but we do average around 38-42MPG in the summer easy enough.
