Hello again hope your all well. Im toying with the idea of keeping my lovely aygo for another little while and putting the money saved for a new car into some bits to make me even happier with her, main thing is lowering the car, what are your experiences of lowering springs? the TTE springs lower by 25mm but are fairly expensive compared to eibachi springs which will lower the ca rby 30mm I know its not much difference but I really dont want the car rubbing and its running on alloys with a 195/45/R15 tyre, What advice can ye offer me? I know it will probly rub a bit anyway but will the 5mm and different spring make much difference at all? Ahh the choices.

I don't think you are going to be able to see that 5m difference with a tape measure. I have Toyota springs but you'd never be able to tell. If your car is still in warranty, you'll keep it with the Toyota ones.

The ride does become a little harsher with the lower springs, but the handling is also a little better and it looks more sporty.

What offset are your wheels?

I honestly havnt a clue what the offset is on the wheels, it didnt come up when I bought them, anywhere I could find it out?

Sometimes it is call ET and it might be written on the wheels. Because you have 195 tyres, whether or not it rubs might depend on the ET which is how far out from the centreline of the car the wheel is.

Normally 38 is about right for the Aygo. If it is higher the track will be narrower, and the wheel may rub on the damper housing. If it is lower, the tyre may rub on the wheel arch when the suspension is in compression.

In that case its defnitly lower because the tyre does rub the arch very slightly when there are two, shall we say large people in the back, are the lower springs much stiffer? normally its just me in the car so it might be ok, also might slow me down a bit on bouncy roads so no harm.

Unfortunately the rubbing will probably get worse if you lower the car. I find 185 tyres and et 38 work fine for me.

Thanks for the advice mate will try remeber that next time im buying tyres, Im leaning more towards the toyota springs because Iv been chatting to people and apparently putting in aftermarket lower springs without changing shocks and all has the tendancy to repeatedly destroy bushings but il keep researching.
