Auris Sr180 Tuning

Hi,

Im new so i will try not to sound to stupid.

I have a 58plate auris sr180. Ive found a company who will remap the ecu not a diesel box.

Will the gearbox & brakes need uprating?

They claim +40bhp & +70nm there's nothing on paper to prove so i take it with a pinch of salt but if he's right what are my options?

and yes i do understand that i will void my warranty at the moment i am just looking.

Thank you very much for any help you can give me.

Can I ask what the price is for remapping the ecu, I will also say that they reckon this ecu can not be mapped so please make sure they are talking about the correct car. I would imagine the gearbox and brakes should be fine I worry more about the injection system and turbo etc.

Hi Patrick,

Do you have the lovely white sr180 with the twin pipes i keep seeing driving around stafford?

40bhp increase is pushing it slightly. However, i would be very surprised if they can remap it. The ECU is verging on fort knocks. Even the highly credited VAG / BMW remappers can't crack the toyota ECU. It's highly encrypted.

Do they have a variety of testimonials? Your choice but i would check first.

I would make a judgement and say the gearbox / clutch and flywheel will be put under more stress and you will probably shave off the life of these parts to something like 70k change instead of a 100k change. And if you really burn it, it will be a lot sooner.

Of course £549 i will e-mail to make sure we are both understanding each other but yes from what i have read from other posts the Auris has a Denso ecu & there uncrackable. He said that everything will be within the limits of the cars components.

No I have a metalic grey one. I do know who used to own the car. I fancy a set of them TRD exhausts on mine just waiting to get the cash.

I think they do i will do somemore home work before i go ahead with anything.

Here we go again lol

Not really as the other posts from what i can see are about the diesel boxes. This remapping company claim to be able to remap the toyota ecu which from what ive heard is uncrackable. This could be big news if he's correct. Nor will i go on about it as soon as i know i will post then that will be the end of that as ive seen you have gone into detail with the tuning boxes :-)

A bit of topic but how does your (kingo) tuning box compare with the emissions of the standard car? The reason I ask is because of my recent ERG valve problem.

Hi Kingo,

No i haven't want to get this recall out the way with first as well as been arguing with the other half over what we should get. After speaking to the tuning company dna tuning. He said he is pretty sure the petrol auris's have the Denso ecu & the diesel have the Bosch. He said he thinks the sr180 has the Bosch EDC16 ECU. I dont know how true this is but i am going to send him a pic this weekend of my ecu so a positive match can be made. He even claims to be able to crack the denso ecu's with a piece of italian software.... I am looking to get this down at the end of March & i will get it dyno'd so i can see how true his claims are....

No it is Denso, the only Bosch ECU's are on the 1.4 engine, everything else is Denso

I very much doubt it, each individual ECU is encrypted, some big tuning companies have tried and failed to re-map Denso systems, make sure you go and get an independant dyno test done to ensure the starting figure he gives you is right ;) from our experience, your 180 is supposed to be 177 BHP but in reality will be nearer 166 IMHO

IF he was to be able to re-map it, what gains does he claim? and at what cost?

Kingo
