Hi,

I have a problem with my Aygo

The left indicator light in the speedo is intermittant

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. But the right indicator light always works every time without fail

When the left indicator stops working there is no flashing left indictator in the speedo but outside its still working

Whats wrong with it?

All lights in the instruent Cluster are LEDs, so there's a really low chance the actual light is out of order.

It might be a loose contact somewhere, in an extremely rare case the LED might be loose on the PCB.

The actual indicator flashers are on the same PCB, so it's really unlikely that it's a loose connector...

could it be a faulty light switch??

Sounds like its on the blink

No. If that's faulty NONE of the lights should work...

I just studied my pics and other documentation again

and I'm pretty sure it can only be the actual LED,

its resistor or their soldered contacts onto the PCB...

As I said before, the indicatorrelays are on the same PCB

as the speedo and the LEDs. These are connected over

the PCB and then go to the plug on the back connecting

everything up to the lights on the front, back and side.

So If you disconnect the plug going to the lights, the LED

should still blink, only WAY faster, to indicate a blown bulb...

If your car still has warranty there's a good chance the dealer

will eventually just swap in an completely new speedo-cluster,

as they normally don't have the equipment nor the skills

to open up these parts and actually fix them...

The dealership looked at it and they're replacing the speedo-cluster bit (under warranty).

Jan van de Wouw, you were spot on.

Ours does that too. Right hand one though.

The actual indicators flash fine, but the green light on the dash doesnt.

Much worse in the wet.

Can be cured by turning the hazards on and off.... which makes me think it isnt the LED (coz why would it work via hazard and not turn right?)

Just hoping it doesnt do it when the MOT man is looking....

(We're out of warranty).

I think that "solving" it with the hazards is pure luck.

At least I can't think of ANY reason that I can

technically support that would be plausible...

If it's just a loose soldering joint I could solve it for you,

but I'm across the pond, so that would be a bit involved :D

Stop teasing us with your tales of led soldering Jan :D

Sorry... You should have one of me in the UK ;)

Next weekend I'm having two people over to change the color (and do

some other modifications), so I've got quite a bit of experience now :D

I just might meed to get a week off work and take a long drive.

All by prior arrangement of course :D
