Sump Replacement Costs?

Hi,

Basically just had a service done which is all fine and well. The advisory I got was that the sump was damaged and that there was a minor oil leak from the engine bay of the vehicle (I assumed the leak was to do with the sump but this could be wrong).

I just wondered what it was going to cost to get it sorted - just a rough guideline.

Thanks!

M.

Edited for correct leak location!

Hi,

The advisory I got was that the sump was damaged and that there was a minor oil leak from the rear of the vehicle (I assumed the leak was to do with the sump but this could be wrong).

Engine is at front of car, sump is at bottom, in front of your feet... so if there is a leak from rear probably something else is going on in addition to the sump.

I'd ask the Garage what damage to sump (replies like "tiny dent" or "mangled, looks like it will completely fail soon" would make me do different things) and from where at rear of car was leak ...

Will do - going to give them a shout on Monday - was going to go with an alternative garage as they're closer to me and pick up the car, give us a discount, etc. so I'd rather do that but give them as much information as possible.

Obviously didn't want to do this immediately if it's going to cost a fortune!

Sorry - meant to say I've re-read the documents and leak is in the engine bay - the writing on the forms awful!

So I guess this means it could be sump related?
