Just this morning we had our Aygo Blues' second service carried out at our local dealer. Mentioned the glove box was opening all the time on its own

and hoped that a modified version would be fitted. When my wife picked the car up they said they have no spare latches in stock so we will have to book

the car in again to get it fixed. I have just got off the pone to them to mention the new modified version. Never heard of it was the reply. Ring next week and we will se

what we can find out NOT HAPPY!!

Then i read the bill. £187 for what was a oil and filter change. They charged for windscreen top up and even silocone spray for the door hinges.

I think the service charge is a disgrace. 3ltrs of oil is all they used.

We have a Rav4 which is in the process of being sold and the Aygo will follow suit.

The wife fancied a new Verso but after todays experience i will never enter a Toyota dealership again.

Sorry about the rant but i still can't believe it was £187 for an oil change.

The second service should be a full service - we pay 165 pounds locally.

The interim service is just an oil and filter change and a visual check on brakes,

lights and steering - locally we pay 89 pounds.

Did you ask how much it would cost for the service?

Mr T's dealers are no worse than any other manafacturers dealers, probably best if you dont buy a premium brand car as they will charge you for sitting in their showroom!

Yes i did price up the service. Original cost quoted was £254. When i told them i had a quote for £187 from a dealer in Swanse they said they would price match it.

To be honest the cost is not a problem, what is a problem is the amount of work they have done to justify such high service costs.

On the premium brand question, we used to own a new A4 avant and then an Audi Allroad before inheriting this car from my parents retiring to Spain. so i know first hand how dear other brand servicing can be.

So you are going to sell you car because you think they charged over the odds on a service ?

Why didn't you just take it to an independent if the money is such an issue?

Here's a tip. The Aygo does 50+mpg so travelling a few extra miles will be of negligible cost.

Ring around a few dealers to get the best price and be happy to travel. Make a day of it, visit somewhere different and go for lunch on the money you save.

My first 3 services have been £90, £120 and £75 respectively. That would have been £67 to spend on fuel and lunch!

Trust me money not an issue. The reason for selling the car is that after only 10k miles we have needed a new clutch and various other visits to

the main dealer for problems that i think should not exist on a car that cost the best part of £10000.

I could go on and on about only getting 10k out of a full set of tyres after rotating them to increase life. Only getting 40-45 mpg when most of our journeys are

motorway speeds.

I feel we bought into a good brand but have been given French junk with a posh Badge on the front and the service costs to match the Badge.

This will be my last post. Tomorrow we are off shopping for a new car.

Not sure what the OPs gripe is TBH...if its price of service - buy a Service Pack. If you're PO'd with Service, complain and ask for a discount/freebie. If you're upset about a glovebox lid (and yes there is a modified version is available) - spend £20 on eBay and fit it yourself (two screws and 45 seconds tops) or book it in with Mr T and get sorted under Warranty.

I mean WTF dude? Its an Aygo...cheap cheerful motoring - a brief it more than adequately fulfils.

I agree, the AYGO fulfills its brief and the work for each service is clearly stated in a table in the service booklet. It is up to the owner to check this and then shop around for a better price...of course dealers will charge as much as they can if the owner hasn't done their homework.
