Rav4 Mp3 Changer

Hi all, i have a problem with my RAV4. I have a t180 (2006) with the R9004 sat nav system. I previously owned an avensis and had a MP3 changer - the one that plugs into the back of the unit and plays from an SD card. Anyway, after much serching and a few emails, i was informed that this should work in my RAV4, as they both have the same socket. So today i tried it. NO JOY. The R9004 doesnt recognise it, there is however power running through the MP3 changer, just no link to the head unit. Does anyone know if there are different types of changers? with the same socket? or, whether the 9004 actually should accept MP3 changers? or, have i missed something obvious which will stop it working? or, is there any downloadable update for the sat nav etc etc. Thanks

If you've got a full map sat nav, then there's no luck with the cheap connects2 mp3 players. You need to use the more expensive ones (and much better) like Dension or Grom. I tried the xcarlink (which is equivalent to the connects2), and that didn't work with my sat nav... which was really annoying!

I still haven't bought myself a mp3 palyer because they are quite expensive, and I'm considering getting rid of my sat nav since it's becoming outdated with no bluetooth, no USB interface and few possibilities of sound adjustment... and I never use the nav-part anyway.

I have tried the grom interface unit and it don't work, emailed grom in USA and it was never tested on the B9004 and advised me to return it to supplier.

The only interface unit that I have got to work is toyota oem unit, but is expensive, I paid £105 + P &P on eBay from a toyota main agent, this unit plays and charges ipods, iphones, I sure they do unit for other mp3 players also.
