Hi All

Does anyone know any good auto electricians in the Glasgow / Edinburgh area?

I have been struggling with my Fog lights and they just don't want to come on so I am going to have to call in someone to have a look. I have tried everything, fuse, switch, relay so I give up!

Cheers

Hi Davie,

Not wishing to state the obvious but ..............................are they actually connected at the light fitting behind the bumper?

have you checked the bulb

buy a multimeter and see if you get 12v at lamp connector

also some fog lights only come on with head lights on

Tried the multimeter and no voltage and also tried with the headlights on etc.... I don't hear the relay kicking in so I think it must be somewhere between the switch and the relay.

Try for voltage at the switch, if that's ok try for voltage at the relay. It sounds like one of them is kaput ;)

Try pulling the relay and have a look to see if the spade connectors have not come adrift in the relay housing. If there is power from the switch it can only be a bad connection/break in wiring or is there another in-line fuse out to the relay which has blown?

I take it the rest of the wiring has been checked for 12v on the load side and connections to earth are all ok?.

Hi guys

Thanks for the replys. I have a XT3 so the switch is seperate from the stalk, basically it still works the same where the lights are grounded via the Switch. The light comes on in the dash (front ones) and I have checked the relay for the connectors etc. My dad is pretty good at the electrics and has given up so I am now at a loss as to where the problem is.

May or may not be of use, but there is a good guide on Rav4 world here -

http://rav4world.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10294

Or you could consult Bothy's mates here -

tell them big Ians mate (dave.m) suggested em. Added treat is that you'll see RAV number 1 in there just now as it awaits refreshed calipers, altho I wouldn't ask for a test drive as the front brakes aren't there!

sorry some plonkers removed it - as they think I'm promoting a RAV specialist - sad. If I knew of anyone else in the area then I'd have mentioned them so its abit mean-hearted. PM me if you want details or whatever

don't you just love nutters??
