Is yours a petrol or diesel engine, and when does the misfire occur - on accelerating, cruising or decelerating? Is it just the odd hesitation, or major hiccups? Engine cold, warm, both? What mileage has it done and has it been regularly serviced?

I've got an 07 D4D which gives the occasional hiccup when under very light load at around the same rev range that you indicate. No fault codes, it's had new injectors fuel pump, filters and ECU reset - still no fix. Next step is for garage to take readings from the ECU and analyse them.

its throttle position sensor

its is basically a variable resistor so when you press the accelerator it changes resistance which gives a different voltages which the ecu reads and adjusts the fuel
