This should make the situation clearer:

http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/congestioncharging/6713.aspx

It is worth noting that IF your car does qualify for exemtion it still has to be registered with TFL before that exemption can be used.......................It is NOT automatically granted.

Ta Red Yaris 54.........me lasey bones should have looked there in the first place, a long time ago almost bought an A2 1400cc diesel and that was exempt.

One of the first things Bozza did when he became Mayor was get rid of the Band A and B relief.

Only vehicles as in Red Yaris 54's post qualify, purely petrol or diesel cars what ever the CO2 don't.

Maybe we should send a formal letter to Boris demanding our IQ's to be exempt of Congestion Charge...at the end of the day if the car is exempt of road tax but you still have to pay congestion charge than something is not quite right, is it?....

It is a "congestion charge", not a pollution charge, however, we should be exempt as we are so clean. Also because the IQ is so small it should be exempt for that reason alone. So it should be exempt for two reasons, so they should pay us for going into London, surely????:lol::yes::yes:

It is not a pollution charge and yet they allow cars fueled alternatively to be exempt of congestion charge even if they are much bigger than IQ...So the requirements for the car to be exempt are as follows: it has to be electric, a hybrid or lpg converted. Size seems not have anything to do with it and if the requirements seem to be based on how "clean" the car is we should be exempt ;) especially that some of the cars that are exempt have 2.5 litres engines and emiting 10 times the amount of CO2 as IQ... :o
